THE RUNAWAYS - BLACKMAIL (1976)

File this under the "What?!?!  NO!!!  Why?!?!" category. They're making a movie about the 70's rock group The Runaways.  Look at this:

Yep, that's miss Twilight herself, Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett.  Dakota Fanning is also in it.  *shudder*  And Michael Shannon is rumored to be playing Kim Fowley... Ok, that's kinda cool.  But overall... YUCK.

Kim Fowley's little gimic in creating a hard rock band made up of teenage girls was a fluke that worked.  Their self-titled debut LP is pretty fantastic and instrumental in the punk rock movement that was to follow a year later.  And, yes, Joan Jett was great even at sixteen.

But a movie?  Maybe.  How about with unknowns rather than a bankable cast?  For now I'll let this one slide so long as they don't bring back those threats of an Iggy Pop movie starring Elijah Wood.  At that point I'm burning this town down.

Poorly Synched Prank That Always Cheers Me

I love this poorly synched prank video clip.
It speaks for itself in the intro set-up, so I won't repeat.
It's always a guaranteed cheer-up for me,
and maybe it will be something you too can add to your bag of tricks.
I admit to being a LotR geek.
What can I say?
I used to read the books by Tolkien every September, often aloud at college, and folks would come to hear.
Kind of like sitting around the fire pit and telling the stories of  a journey taken, once and always.

This interview is worth it, even with the bobbly lips.
You probably wouldn't have been bothered so much by it
If I hadn't kept shoving it in your face.
