Only one more week till DJ Hero is released. I feel like a little kid the week before Christmas.
DAFT PUNK !!! HELL YEAH!
With The Beatles Rock Band edition flying high in the sales chart and
Guitar Hero 5 about to enter the fray (forget the furore over Kurt
Cobain...Johnny Cash stars in it!), my attention turns to DJ Hero.
When Guitar Hero first came out, it always struck me that a turntable
based version of the game seemed like an obvious evolution. What is
more surprising is that it has taken this long to happen.
Here, the Art Director from the team behind Guitar and DJ Hero chats
at E3 about the inspiration behind the game and how the hardware
peripheral (turntable) works with the game.
The marketing of the game has ticked all the boxes.
Authentic collaborations
As you would expect, the music celebrity collaborations are extensive
and actually pretty credible, from Grandmaster Flash and Jazzy Jeff
through to Jay-Z and Daft Punk.
Artist launch of material within game
Daft Punk are releasing eleven original mixes, including two signature
"Megamixes,” using their music within the game:

Premium edition of the game
The DJ Hero™ Renegade Edition features JAY-Z and EMINEM. In addition
to the DJ Hero game, the Renegade Edition includes a premium Renegade
turntable controller, hardshell turntable carrying case that converts
to a performance-ready DJ stand, and an exclusive JAY-Z and EMINEM
2-CD pack featuring unreleased tracks.
The all-star launch party
Celebrities hit the red-carpet to talk about the game before watching
a live set from JAY-Z and EMINEM.
Compatibility with other Activision products
You can hook up Activision guitars to play along with the DJ mixes,
making the game a more attractive proposition to anyone who already
owns Guitar Hero. This paves the way for future game releases that use
the full Activision product set of guitars, mic, drums and turntable.
Distribution of content
Video tutorials and film from the celebrity collaborators are all
available on the DJ Hero website and distributed on Youtube and
Facebook (14,801 friends). The official DJ Hero Twitter feed has 6,196
followers.
Expect to see the Renegade edition of DJ Hero attached to the
