“I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” – 1 Co 9:22

Paul’s great object was not merely to instruct and to improve, but to save. Anything short of this would have disappointed him; he would have men renewed in heart, forgiven, sanctified, in fact, saved. Have our Christian labours been aimed at anything below this great point? Then let us amend our ways, for of what avail will it be at the last great day to have taught and moralized men if they appear before God unsaved? Blood-red will our skirts be if through life we have sought inferior objects, and forgotten that men needed to be saved. Paul knew the ruin of man’s natural state, and did not try to educate him, but to save him; he saw men sinking to hell, and did not talk of refining them, but of saving from the wrath to come. To compass their salvation, he gave himself up with untiring zeal to telling abroad the gospel, to warning and beseeching men to be reconciled to God. His prayers were importunate and his labours incessant. To save souls was his consuming passion, his ambition, his calling. He became a servant to all men, toiling for his race, feeling a woe within him if he preached not the gospel. He laid aside his preferences to prevent prejudice; he submitted his will in things indifferent, and if men would but receive the gospel, he raised no questions about forms or ceremonies: the gospel was the one all-important business with him. If he might save some he would be content. This was the crown for which he strove, the sole and sufficient reward of all his labours and self-denials. Dear reader, have you and I lived to win souls at this noble rate? Are we possessed with the same all-absorbing desire? If not, why not? Jesus died for sinners, cannot we live for them? Where is our tenderness? Where our love to Christ, if we seek not his honour in the salvation of men? O that the Lord would saturate us through and through with an undying zeal for the souls of men.

Opening Song: I Will Follow Thee

Savior, I will follow Thee;
Thou art all the world to me;
Tho’ the way I cannot see,
Savior, I will follow Thee.

Follow Thee, I will follow Thee,
Follow Thee, I will follow Thee;
Follow till the day is done,
Follow till the crown is won,
Savior, I will follow Thee.

Savior, I will follow Thee,
Tho’ it lead me to the cross;
Counting all things here but dross,
Savior, I will follow Thee.

Follow Thee, I will follow Thee,
Follow Thee, I will follow Thee;
Follow till the day is done,
Follow till the crown is won,
Savior, I will follow Thee.

Savior, I will follow Thee,
Tho’ it lead through toil and tears;
Through the long and weary years,
Savior, I will follow Thee.

Follow Thee, I will follow Thee,
Follow Thee, I will follow Thee;
Follow till the day is done,
Follow till the crown is won,
Savior, I will follow Thee.

Savior, I will follow Thee
Till the toils of life are o’er;
Till I reach the golden shore,
Savior, I will follow Thee.

Follow Thee, I will follow Thee,
Follow Thee, I will follow Thee;
Follow till the day is done,
Follow till the crown is won,
Savior, I will follow Thee.

Scripture: Luke 9:57-62

57 As they went on the way, a certain man said to him, "I want to follow you wherever you go, Lord."
58 Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
59 He said to another, "Follow me!" But he said, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father."
60 But Jesus said to him, "Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you go and announce the Kingdom of God."
61 Another also said, "I want to follow you, Lord, but first allow me to bid farewell to those who are at my house."
62 But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God."

Message

Jesus is asking each one of us to follow Him today. But we all need to know that when we choose to follow Jesus, we won't be in a perpetual place of comfort. He tells us in our scripture today that He has no place to lay His head, meaning that Christian life is a long, hard journey. He also tells us in six different places in the Bible that we are to each take our cross and follow Him. (Matthew 10:38, Matthew 16:24, Mark 8:34, Mark 10:21, Luke 9:23 and Luke 14:27.) And most of those six times, He's telling us that we must deny ourselves, which means we all have not only a long, hard journey ahead, but that we are locked in a constant battle to the death with our own selfish motives and with the devil who is fighting us at every turn as we try to walk more closely with Jesus. So as we follow Jesus each day and try each day to walk more closely with Him, we must deny ourselves, spiritually crucifying our sinful nature, just as Jesus Himself was crucified to free us from sin. It's a long journey and a hard-fought battle, but the reward in the end is eternal life in the Kingdom of God in Heaven.

So as Jesus calls you to follow Him today, what will you do? Will you tell Him you have to bury your past before you can follow Him? Will you tell Him you have to look back and spend time saying goodbye to things that are far behind you before you can follow Him? Or will you deny yourself, crucify your sinful nature and follow Jesus right away? The choice is entirely yours to make, but the consequence of that choice will last forever. Choose Jesus today. Choose life in His Kingdom forever. It's a hard road, but He'll be there to help you, and you'll be following Him, so you can always look to Him when troubles come.

Prayer

LORD Jesus, I hear you calling me to follow You. I understand the choice I have to make. I choose to follow You now. I choose eternal life with You in Your heavenly Kingdom. LORD, I have a lot of sin in my past, but I don't need to go back and bury it, because I know that You died for me. Cover my sin under Your powerful Blood to be washed away forever. I spiritually crucify my sinful nature, just as You were crucified to free me from sin. I'm fully Yours now, LORD. Take me where You will and use me for Your holy work. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

 “Girt about the paps with a golden girdle.” – Rev 1:13

“One like unto the Son of Man” appeared to John in Patmos, and the beloved disciple marked that he wore a girdle of gold. A girdle, for Jesus never was ungirt while upon earth, but stood always ready for service, and now before the eternal throne he stays not is holy ministry, but as a priest is girt about with “the curious girdle of the ephod.” Well it is for us that he has not ceased to fulfil his offices of love for us, since this is one of our choicest safeguards that he ever liveth to make intercession for us. Jesus is never an idler; his garments are never loose as though his offices were ended; he diligently carries on the cause of his people. A golden girdle, to manifest the superiority of his service, the royalty of his person, the dignity of his state, the glory of his reward. No longer does he cry out of the dust, but he pleads with authority, a King as well as a Priest. Safe enough is our cause in the hands of our enthroned Melchizedek.

Our Lord presents all his people with an example. We must never unbind our girdles. This is not the time for lying down at ease, it is the season of service and warfare. We need to bind the girdle of truth more and more tightly around our loins. It is a golden girdle, and so will be our richest ornament, and we greatly need it, for a heart that is not well braced up with the truth as it is in Jesus, and with the fidelity which is wrought of the Spirit, will be easily entangled with the things of this life, and tripped up by the snares of temptation. It is in vain that we possess the Scriptures unless we bind them around us like a girdle, surrounding our entire nature, keeping each part of our character in order, and giving compactness to our whole man. If in heaven Jesus unbinds not the girdle, much less may we upon earth. Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth.

Opening Song: Amazing Grace, 1st, 2nd and 4th verses

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Scripture: John 8:3-11

3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman taken in adultery. Having set her in the midst,
4 they told him, "Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now in our law, Moses commanded us to stone such. What then do you say about her?"
6 They said this testing him, that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger.
7 But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her."
8 Again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.
9 They, when they heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning from the oldest, even to the last. Jesus was left alone with the woman where she was, in the middle.
10 Jesus, standing up, saw her and said, "Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?"
11 She said, "No one, Lord." Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more."

Message

Our scripture today is a story of God's amazing and wonderful grace and mercy. The woman in the text was taken in adultery. By law at that time, she deserved to die for her sin. There was no second chance. There was no stay of execution. She deserved to die by stoning, right then, right there. But she was taken to Jesus. The scribes and the Pharisees took her to Jesus hoping they could find something to accuse Him of. But Jesus took this opportunity to teach them, the woman and all of us a life-saving lesson about our sin and God's grace. God knows that no one other than Jesus Christ Himself has lived a sinless life. These scribes and Pharisees who wanted to accuse Jesus learned this lesson when Jesus told them that the person with no sin could throw the first stone. But then Jesus took it even a step further. Once everyone had gone, only Jesus and the woman remained. At that point, there was indeed one sinless person who could throw stones at her, that person being Jesus. Jesus could have been the executioner. By law, He could have stoned her right there. He even met His own criteria to be her judge and executioner, in that He in fact had no sin. But Jesus didn't throw a single stone. Instead, when Jesus and the woman both saw that all her accusers had gone, being convicted by their conscience, Jesus forgave her. He gave her back her life, which was his to give, and sent her on her way. He also taught her about how repentance works. He told her from then on to sin no more. That's the lesson of repentance and grace. It doesn't matter what we've done. It doesn't matter how bad we think our sins are. It's all very bad and we are all worthy of eternal torture in a fiery hell because of the things we've done. But repentance and grace rescue us from this eternal torture. When we take our sin to Jesus and put it all under His Blood, he washes us clean. Then we are able to go on our way and from now on sin no more. Yes, occasionally we will fall down and relapse back into sinful ways. But what matters is what's in our hearts. What matters is that we get back up and take it all to Jesus again. And as we live our lives, we ask Jesus to help us sin no more. Then, as we stay close to Jesus and determine in our hearts to let Him live in us and through us, the sin of the past will be gone. Yes, the war with the devil continues, and temptation is great. But with Jesus living on the inside of us, and with us constantly asking Him to lead us and guide us on a close walk with Him, the desire to grieve Jesus by committing further sin will diminish, and we will be able to withstand temptation by the strength of Christ who is living on the inside of us.

Prayer

LORD Jesus, we've all sinned. We've all done things that make us worthy of eternal torture in hell. But we thank You that we are able to take all our sins to You. We thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive our sins. Take all our sin away and wash us clean by the power of Your precious Blood. Make us whole and blameless before God and live in and through us as You help us to sin no more. In the perfect and powerful name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

First off I would like to thank everyone for their prayers yesterday, as unfortunately I was unable to record a podcast. Unfortunately, the same does hold true today, although my voice is better than it was yesterday. Please do continue to pray for me and be blessed as I give you the Christ Conduit Podcast as originally posted on Thursday October 15. Have a blessed day in the name of Jesus Christ our LORD.

Opening Song: Original composition: I Will Press

I will stretch,
I will press
toward the goal of Your high calling.
I must not
Dare look back,
You will help me when I'm falling.

Even when
Times are tough,
I can count on You to guide me.
You will stay
Ever near,
You are always right beside me.

Scripture: Philippians 3:12-14

12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect; but I press on, if it is so that I may take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus.
13 Brothers, I don't regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before,
14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Message

Life is an obstacle course. Just when we think we are well on our Christian way, something comes into our path. It could be sin, or it could be a seemingly hopeless situation. It could even be our reaction to people who have been tricked by the devil to be a stumbling block in our way, in an attempt to take our focus away from the Living God. No matter what it is, it will come, and we will bump into it and we will stumble or fall. It happens to all of us, especially when we are trying to walk in God's perfect will. That's why verse 12 clearly tells us that Paul, even as close to God as he was, wasn't perfect. But what Paul says that he does is the same as we should all do. We are all running a race to receive a prize, which is the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. In order to receive this prize, we must win the race, and we win by simply finishing. This means that whenever we do fall into sin, we confess it before God and then forget it, because it's behind us, and verse 13 tells us that we should forget what is behind and look straight ahead. If you constantly look back, you can never see what's ahead, so you forget about what's behind you and look forward, because God is running in front of you to help you on your way. Then you continue pressing on toward the prize, keeping your mind on God who will help you finish the race of life. And if it's a seemingly hopeless situation, we are to continue to stay focused on God who is faithful to show us the way through, and even pick us up and carry us if necessary. Then also, we should try to forget any pain we experienced and take with us the knowledge of the way through, which is God, and again keep pressing on toward the prize. If we stay focused on God through all situations and through all temptations, He will get us to the finish line.

Prayer

God, we thank You for giving us a high calling. We thank You for helping us to press on toward the finish line in the race of life. LORD, we know that things come into our path to try to take our minds off You and Your promised plan for us. Please help us to keep our minds on You through all situations and through all temptations, and help us to keep pressing on toward Your prize. Help us to know that You are always with us and that You will be there to help us up if we stumble or fall, and help us to know that if the way gets too rough, we can always count on You to carry us through. In the holy name of Jesus Christ our LORD and Savior we pray. Amen.

Unfortunately, a cold has taken out my singing voice, so there will be no new Christ Conduit Podcast today. However, please do pray for me and be blessed as I replay the podcast from October 26. Have a blessed day.

Opening Song: In Christ There Is No East or West

In Christ there is no East or West,
In Him no South or North;
But one great fellowship of love
Throughout the whole wide earth.

In Him shall true hearts everywhere
Their high communion find;
His service is the golden cord,
Close binding humankind.

Join hands, then, members of the faith,
Whatever your race may be!
Who serves my Father as His child
Is surely kin to me.

In Christ now meet both East and West,
In Him meet North and South;
All Christly souls are one in Him
Throughout the whole wide earth.

Scripture: Galatians 3:26:29

26 For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 If you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to promise.

Message

We are all one in Christ Jesus. When He gave His life for us on the cross, He didn't care what we look like, what sex organs we have or where we come from. He cared for us as sinful human beings in desperate need of salvation. That means all of us, none in any more or any less need of salvation than anyone else. Think about this. If there was a certain race of people or certain nationality that didn't need salvation, Jesus never would have needed to go through the pain and the misery He went through, and He never would have needed to give His life to save us. All He would have needed to do would have been to come to Earth with a vast army of angels and take the special chosen group of people who didn't need salvation on to Heaven with Him and then wipe out all the rest of us, maybe even destroying the entire planet in the process. As a matter of fact, He could have simply only created a single group of people who were programmed like robots to do only His will and who all look the same. But instead, knowing that we all need salvation equally, He came to Earth, was born as a man, lived, suffered unimaginable torture, bled, died and rose from the dead so that we all could equally receive His free gift of salvation no matter who we are or what we look like.

So why on God's green Earth do we have racism? Why do we have sexism? And a lot of this mess comes from right inside of the church, and from people who claim to be Christians. If God doesn't care what we look like or what sex organs we have, why do we care when it comes to the people who join our churches? Why do we have organizations who claim that their members are required to be Christians, but they burn crosses, call names, march and even kill in the name of racism? Stop it now! Can't you see that a true relationship with God through Jesus Christ and racism and sexism are entirely at odds with one another? The Bible clearly tells us this. If you or your church favors one group over another or harbors feelings of hate or even dislike for any group of people based on what they look like or where they come from, or favors male over female or female over male in matters other than marriage, which is always to be one male and one female, you or your church must repent, which means change your way of thinking. Turn to God and ask Him to forgive you for being in direct opposition to the relationship He wants for all of us, which is one of equality and love for all human kind and love for Him.

Prayer

Father God, we thank You for Your perfect love. We thank You that Your love and Your free gift of salvation extends and applies to all of us equally, no matter who we are or what we look like. We thank You that we are all one body of believers in Christ Jesus who loves us all. LORD, help us remember this each and every moment of our lives. Help us to love all believers equally and extend that love to all those who need You no matter who they are. Churches, become one body of believers of all races, both male and female in the name of Jesus! I declare and decree the death of racism in the name of Jesus! I declare and decree the death of sexism in the name of Jesus! Be free of discrimination, body of Christ. In the wonderful and matchless name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Opening Song: Spend One Hour with Jesus

Weary soul by sin oppressed,
Spend one hour with Jesus;
He will give your spirit rest,
Spend one hour with Jesus:
He has felt your grief before,
Numbered all your sorrows o’er,
He will ev’ry joy restore;
Spend one hour with Jesus.

Do you fear the gath’ring gloom?
Spend one hour with Jesus;
In the silent inner room,
Spend one hour with Jesus:
He will speak unto your soul,
Make your ev’ry heartache whole,
Point you to the heav’only goal;
Spend one hour with Jesus.

Ev’ry need He will supply,
Spend one hour with Jesus;
He alone can satisfy,
Spend one hour with Jesus:
Oh, the mercy He will show,
Oh, the grace He will bestow,
Grace to conquer ev’ry foe;
Spend one hour with Jesus.

All along life’s stormy way,
Spend one hour with Jesus;
Call upon Him day by day,
Spend one hour with Jesus:
Tell Him all—He is your Friend,
He will countless blessings send,
He will keep you to the end;
Spend one hour with Jesus.

Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Message

As Christians, we have nothing at all to worry about. Not because we don't go through fiery trials, but because we have God, who is bigger than all our mess. The Bible tells us that we shouldn't worry or be anxious. Whenever we would be worried or anxious about something, we should instead take our problem to God. We thank God for being big enough and strong enough to help us through our problems. We thank God because He's God. And we thank God for all the things He has done for us. Also, as we pray, we are to make our requests known to Him. Whatever our problem is, whatever our situation, we should tell it to God, all the time thanking Him for being with us and for all the times He's helped us throughout our lives. Then, because we are praying, thanking God and making our request known to Him, He sends His peace, which surpasses all understanding. We won't know how on Earth we can feel such peace in the middle of such a messed up situation, but the peace of God will be with us and God will make a way through our problem, whatever it may be.

Prayer

LORD God, we come to You giving thanks. We thank You for being God. We thank You for being with us and helping us through all our troubles. We are going through problems and trials now, but we know that we don't need to worry about them, because You are bigger than anything we face. LORD, make a way out of our problems, out of our trials and out of our troubles. We thank You for being faithful to make a way for us through our situation, no matter what it is, according to Your perfect will. We thank You for Your perfect peace, which we can never understand, but which will guard our hearts and our minds. In the powerful name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Opening Song: I Walk in Danger All the Way, 1st and 5th verses

I walk in danger all the way.
The thought shall never leave me
That Satan, who has marked his prey,
Is plotting to deceive me.
This foe with hidden snares
May seize me unawares
If e'er I fail to watch and pray.
I walk in danger all the way.

I walk with Jesus all the way,
His guidance never fails me;
Within His wounds I find a stay
When Satan's power assails me;
And by His footsteps led,
My path I safely tread.
In spite of ills that threaten may,
I walk with Jesus all the way.

Scripture: 1 Peter 5:8-11

8 Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9 Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.
10 But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
11 To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

Message

We have a very powerful enemy. He is the devil, also known as Satan. He constantly brings suffering and trials our way. He also brings us countless temptations in his attempt to draw us away from God. It's a constant battle that we fight from the moment we come to Christ, and we continue to fight this battle until we lay down our lives at the end of our long journey here on this Earth. But Peter tells us in our scripture today that the knowledge of our brothers and sisters throughout the world going through the same suffering as we are can help us be strong, because we stand together in one faith. He then goes on to tell us that Jesus Christ, who is our God, and suffered more than most of us could even imagine so that we could share in His eternal glory at the end of life, is right there with us and will help us through each and every trial that comes our way. He gives us strength and perfects us through each and every trial we face and settles us on our feet on the other side. So because Jesus is walking with us and even carrying us through the toughest of our trials, we don't even have to worry about the devil. He may be powerful and he may roar very loudly, but he can't devour us, because God is always on our side fighting on our behalf through every hour of every day.

Prayer

LORD Jesus, we fight a constant battle with our enemy Satan each and every day of our lives. Sometimes it gets so hard that we don't know how we will make it through the suffering he sends our way. God, help us to know that You are always with us. Help us to know that You will use the trials we all have to face to perfect and strengthen us, and that You will help us out of our suffering and settle us on our feet on the other side. Help us to know that because of the unimaginable suffering You had to face, You understand anything we could face and we can be confident that You can help us through it. In the precious name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Amen.

Opening Song: Give Thanks to God, for Good Is He

Give thanks to God, for good is He, His grace abideth ever;
To Him all praise and glory be, His mercy faileth never.
His wondrous works with praise record, His grace abideth ever;
The only God, the sovereign Lord, whose mercy faileth never.

His wisdom made the heavens be, His grace abideth ever;
He spread the earth above the sea, His mercy faileth never.
Praise Him Whose sun doth bring the day, His grace abideth ever;
The moon and stars His might display, whose mercy faileth never.

He helped us in our deepest woe, His grace abideth ever;
He ransomed us from all our foes, His mercy faileth never.
Each creature’s need He doth supply, His grace abideth ever;
Give thanks to God, enthroned on high, whose mercy faileth never.

Scripture: Psalm 136:1-9

1 Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good; for his loving kindness endures forever.
2 Give thanks to the God of gods; for his loving kindness endures forever.
3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords; for his loving kindness endures forever:
4 To him who alone does great wonders; for his loving kindness endures forever:
5 To him who by understanding made the heavens; for his loving kindness endures forever:
6 To him who spread out the earth above the waters; for his loving kindness endures forever:
7 To him who made the great lights; for his loving kindness endures forever:
8 The sun to rule by day; for his loving kindness endures forever;
9 The moon and stars to rule by night; for his loving kindness endures forever:

Message

Everyone is probably familiar with the situation I'm about to describe. Your sitting at a table with your family and friends on Thanksgiving Day. Before you start eating all the great food in front of you, somebody invariably says: "Hey. Let's go around the table and have each person tell us what they're thankful for." One person says: "I'm thankful for all this food." Another says: "I'm thankful for my family." Another says: "I'm thankful for my friends." One dude invariably jumps up and says "I'm thankful for football!" or else he names a specific football team he likes, especially if they're playing well this year. And around they all go, each one saying what he or she is thankful for. But how many people are going to say: "I'm thankful for God." Or what about: "I'm thankful that Jesus Christ died for me." We should all be thankful for this truth. Jesus Christ did in fact die for each one of us, and He rose from the dead to sit at the Father's right hand for all eternity. And we should be thankful for God Himself, because without Him, we would never have been created. Today, and as you sit around the Thanksgiving table tomorrow, and every day of your life, consider God to be the one you are most thankful for. Tell Him so every day. Tell your friends and family just how thankful you are for God, not just for the things He's done for you, but also because He's God.

Prayer

God, we thank You for being God. We thank You that without You, the world would not exist. We thank You that You are loving, kind and merciful. We thank You that You sent Jesus Christ to suffer and die to save us all from our sinful lives. We give You all the praise, and we will never stop thanking You, because You're God and You deserve all the thanks we could ever give You for that. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
