Mick Boogie & Terry Urban celebrating 20 years of De La Soul with their new mixtape "Le Da Soul".
Download it here.

Basically the concept is this. The track has the same name as a De La Soul track and uses elements of it (samples, drums, whatever...). It's NOT just a bunch of famous people rapping over De La's beats. Instrumentals are completely re-arranged and the vocalists wrote their own lyrics.

Personal favourites after the first listen have to be Eye Know (The Kid Daytona f/ Mike Maven), Stakes Is High Part 2 (Talib Kweli), Oodles Of O's (Camp Lo) and Breakadawn (Tanya Morgan).

Enjoy!

Sometimes I disappoint myself at the lack of rap representation here on this blog.  While it's true I don't listen to much when I do find something I enjoy I love it a lot.  De La Soul is one of those groups with their debut album 3 Feet High And Rising being one of the classics of the genre.

I'm not going to speak much on the album because it's been spoken of so much since it's release, beyond being one of those you should have in your collection if you don't already.  But I can still join in celebrating how excellent it is by playing Eye Know off of it.  When I hear it I wish there were a thousand more songs and bands like it to fill these very pages.  More, please!

I'm really digging using the Genius Mix to guide my workout playlists. Two days in a row and they are pretty solid mixes and doing exactly what Genius is supposed to do -- showcase parts of my library that I've been neglecting (I see you Ms. Jade).

Anyway, a full Fat Burning Cardio after waking up at about 4am today. I don't mind the early rising but I should just get started on my day instead of futsing around online and with bejeweled until the sun comes up. It ain't like I don't have things to do.

40 minutes of Total Body Burn as we get back into the swing of things on the health kick. I'll discuss Week 13 of the Instinct Diet in more detail later on but suffice to say, discipline was pretty lacking over the last 7 days. I only worked out one and a half times and my weight on the scale reflects that. So we're back in full force starting today.

Let's do this, chico!
