Dale says...

I do not celebrate Daylight Saving Time. I am not alone. It is my opinion that it is an arbitrarily difficult solution to a non-problem. I refuse to participate and have not done so for the past two years (2008, 2009).

Unfortunately, just ignoring Daylight Saving Time (aka Crazy Time, Summer Time or Civil Time) is not really an option in Texas. Prefacing answers to chronological queries with "You people seem to think that it is [the current, adjusted time]" is counter-productive and could be construed as inconsiderate, rude or elitist.

I'm just glad that it's over for this year. Maybe one day the "wasted summer morning" problem can be addressed in a more inclusive, logical manner. I certainly hope so.

As we lost an hour in addition to already bad economy, here's a perfect case of effective stimulus package:

1. fast effect
2. relatively inexpensive
3. gives many times greater effects than required inputs

In the photo is my house blend of two coffees, one from Harar region of Ethiopia and another Iskandar region of Indonesia, both homeroasted weekly with personal care.

Incidentally, coffee farms that make high quality products almost always pay their workers well and give good benefits. They also very often care about the sustainability compared to the farms that make inferior grades beans. Estates that make better beans often have websites and they are more likely to respond to email comments. Going by the final product quality is a better way than many other bureaucratic mechanisms designed to the same ends.
