A friend of mine wanted me to design a "Rapper Chain" for him, which I've never done before. During my research, I came across the article: "The 10 Most Ridiculous Rapper Chains" and it gave me an idea of what NOT to do. I can honestly say, some of the examples are pretty funny, and, oddly enough, I can see myself wearing them. I have not used a Mac but always hope to have the extra money to spend on one. They look really pretty but also really expensive.It is more like a luxury item for me. Just like the ad, at this moment in time I am just not atas enough for a Mac. Hopefully in the near future I get to have one too!
I think the recent Microsoft Ads are really not too bad. They definitely take on a more humble approach compared to the Apple ads.
Macs might be better products but most of the time success also comes from the marketing efforts that shape consumers perceptions and influence their choices. The below ad is a pretty interesting attempt by Microsoft to counter the negative perceptions generated by the "I'm a Mac" ads from Apple.
One of the most interesting features of Microsoft Silverlight technology is the Deep Zoom, originally codenamed Seadragon. What it does is that it break down an image into many small pieces of varying resolutions. When view from afar, a low resolution image can be used without the loss of details. As one zooms into an image, higher resolution of the image will be streamed in, providing higher detail. You can observe this feature in action when you use Google Earth.
Anyway Microsoft has a free tool known as the Deep Zoom Composer that allows one to easily create such images. Hence I decided to create a giant image of all the photos that I had taken at Pitstop Cafe for the past 3 years. The tools required are pretty easy to use. You can refer to this excellent guide on how about doing it. The tough part was actually organizing and managing over 6000 plus images. You can check out the photo wall for the end result.
However, there are some learning points that I like to share that will hopefully help to make your implementation even easier.
In conclusion, it is easy to get started on doing your own Deep Zoom project. The tools really simplified alot of the steps involved. For those who are more technically inclined, you can also easily export and modify your Deep Zoom project using Visual Studio or Expression.

A very creative ad shared by a classmate which sparked off an interesting discussion on it. My personal opinion is that though the ad is impactful, I doubt it is really effective. It left an impression on me because of the clever way it communicates the message instead of the message itself.
Adobe created a brilliant environmental advertising called, "Adobe Interactive Installation" (Click to watch the video). Now, a rental car company called SIXT, has thought of an inexpensive, ingenious way to advertise through various Wi-Fi networks installed at their Hamburg airport office. Check out the video below:
