Joey K says...

I know a lot of people may not appreciate me saying this.

America took all of its bad values, lack of brains and inability to become emotionally attached, and put them in a container.

That container became Lady Gaga.

She's terrible. Her lyrics are shallow, her face is always covered, her body is always exposed and she is a huge success.

I've noticed that Lady Gaga has become more popular than I've ever seen a music celebrity. Worse, she's the epitome of immorality.

I always thought we, Americans, had ourselves in check. I thought we understood that sex, looks, drugs and money weren't everything. I'm not sure what to think now that Lady Gaga is practically the most famous thing in America right now.

I thought we were somewhat careful about being role models to children. Lady Gaga said screw that.

It's almost inhumane.

This scares and baffles me. I hope Lady Gaga isn't a sign of our future, but many people are already idolizing this woman.

I just keep thinking about how similar we are to the Ancient Romans just before their collapse.

I hope Lady Gaga doesn't influence too many people; that's all.

Welcome to Crazytown. Population: you.

Every morning across seven continents, 402 million people rise ahead of the sun to drag themselves into that smog-filled, oil-fuelled nightmare called the morning commute. Pounding their way along 16.2 miles of pavement, train track, or gridlocked tarmac to arrive at their Official Place of Work, most will sit down, throw six triple-espressos into throats scorched by artificial air, and rub eyes zapped by fluorescent death rays.

Those who succeed in wrenching themselves into what passes for the mortal realm are then forced to hunt down jobs to fill their day, an eight-hour stretch of meaningless meetings, the constant shrill of telephones, and having to listen to Suzie from Sales tell Sally that story about Sarah seducing Simon’s sister.

Despite all the obvious warnings, like the cubicle stress that ends in Godzilla-style office rampages, all of this is somehow considered normal. Commuting is a fact of life, isn’t it? Or perhaps, like me, you find a dark humour in wasting our lives by physically travelling to work in the Internet age. If it wasn’t so sad it might be funny.

A pet snake got itself in a bit of a bind after it mistook its own tail for a tasty dinner.

Reggie the King snake soon realised his mistake after chomping down on his back end but then couldn't release himself after his teeth had taken hold.

This snake's owner rushed the hungry reptile to the vet after it lunge at its own tail

Luckily the hungry reptile's owner arrived on the scene before the snake began to digest its own body, and rushed him to the vet.

'Its backward facing teeth were acting like a ratchet,' vet Bob Reynolds from Faygate, West Sussex told the Mail Online.

'The snake had also dislocated its jaw in its attempt to get its mouth around the tail and this isn't easy to reverse.'

Mr Reynolds was able to gently untangle Reggie by prising its jaws open a little wider and sliding the teeth off the flesh using a probe. The whole operation took only half an hour.

'I have never seen a case like it, although I have head about it happening,' the reptiles expert said.

'There is a temptation for a snake-eater like this one to lunge at its own tail, especially if kept in a small enclosure. They can't spread themselves out and think their tails are another snake.'

Luckily the tip of the 18-year-old snake's tail hadn't entered its stomach so it hadn't come to any harm. All Reggie was left nursing was perhaps wounded pride.

King snakes range from southern Canada down to South America. They can grow up to seven feet and live up to 20 years in the wild, but can live much longer as pets.

The constrictors hunt a variety of prey from rodents to birds and other snakes... and at times even themselves.

Woman, 77, says she was pressured into buying car

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A woman filed a lawsuit claiming a Clive auto dealership pressured her to buy a new car while she was waiting for an oil change. The Polk County lawsuit said a Holmes Hyundai saleswoman pressured 77-year-old Audrey McKnight to buy the car while she waited for the service on her 2006 car. McKnight claims she was adamant she couldn't afford a new car but finally gave up after being pressured for hours.

Dealership owner Max Holmes disputes those claims and says his lawyers will respond in court. He said his lawyers are trying to resolve the situation.

McKnight made her claim under a new state consumer fraud law that makes such suits easier to file.

I received an e-mail from Sal9000, the man who married his video game girlfriend on Sunday. Here's a translation of the letter he sent me, along with some photos:

Dear Ms. Katayama,

Thank you very much for watching our wedding ceremony online. Because of your blog post, we received some comments from what appeared to be international viewers, and we were very happy about that.

I had heard before the groom is very busy during a Japanese wedding, but this was much more than I expected!

This is the absolute most pitiful thing I've seen in a long time. See the rest of the article for more pictures and comments.
