With the support of Edentify (thanks guys, super fast turn-around on your end) we did a little live poll this morning at the ADMA Data Day 2009 asking a couple of hundred Australian direct marketers the following two questions:

Poll 1: Thinking of yourself as a consumer which of the following channels would you prefer companies to use when communicating with you (select only one)?

Poll 2: Putting your direct marketer head back on, which is the most effective direct marketing channel for your company (select only one)?

The below results are only very top-line and would most likely differ by industry and product (i.e. price) but it's comforting to see that a great majority of people would like to be communicated with via email and that marketers also think email is a very effective channel that works for them (same goes for DM). More of a concern is that is seems that no-one really wants a phone call but quite a few marketers consider phone calls an effective direct marketing channel.

If all this sounds like a familiar challenge to you and you'd like to know how data and analytics can help to select the most suitable channel at the right point in time or just want to contribute to industry best practice then please join the new ADMA Data & Analytics council by emailing councils@adma.com.au.

Ramki says...

I am an average human & introvert by nature; an IT Pro by profession and Infosec is a subject I am quite enthusiastic about. I work for the IT industry in the infrastructure side of things i.e I manage IT geeks, Servers, Network, Security & Desktops, a resident of Chennai, INDIA and happily married with a boisterous son.

My full name is Ramakrishnan Balasubramanian I am generally called by people as Ramki. Since people often got confused and addressed me as Balasubramanian (my father’s name) and as my full name is a bit long; I use the profile name as “Ramki B Ramakrishnan”. This tweaking makes it standard and most of them end up using Ramki or Ramakrishnan.

I like to read books - any type fiction, non-fiction, tech, philosophy, comics; Watch movies & listen to music - any genre as far as they are enjoyable (I am not doing much of both nowadays). I spend lot of time on internet learning & reading; other than general news, common subjects & trending topics my favorite subjects are Infosec, IT Infrastructure management, General management, and Leadership. I have made lot of attempts to blog but never really succeeded in doing it regularly; after embracing twitter I am now into micro-blogging.

I am a member in most of the popular networking sites and I use them as below:

Twitter (https://twitter.com/ramki_b) – My favorite; almost every day I spend an hour on this. I use twitter to learn & share interesting things. Most of my tweets are related to InfoSec. I predominantly follow InfoSec people and I follow people back except when I find them; spamming, having porn content, doing sales pitch, network marketing, using tweets for only communication, devoid of any interesting content. I have nothing against these types of tweets but they do not fulfill my purpose on twitter.

Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/ramki.b) – Largely my Facebook friends are classmates, friends, friend-of-friends, colleagues; meaning I know them by flesh and skin not only online. Lots of my friends are on facebook, in fact most of them do not even have a online profile; may be due to a) I grew up on a middle class environment where most of my friends are not computer savvy b) ISP’s came up only well after my student days. Hence most of my freinds do only email. My agenda on facebook is just to stay in touch with a circle of people.

Linkedin (http://www.linkedin.com/in/bramakrishnan) – My connections are a varied mix in this, but for classmates (I am still searchingJ for them online). I connect with my colleagues (ex. & current), professional contacts, customers, etc. Though I am not sure how? My primary Linkedin agenda is to get networked with the industry and career development.

Friendfeed (http://friendfeed.com/bramkie) – I am not very active on this whenever I find anything of general interest I share it. Idea is to share interesting stuff.

I do have a profile but I am not active on Orkut, MSN, Flickr, and Myspace.

I have couple of blogs on blogger (http://ramkie.blogspot.com/ & http://itpro-blog.blogspot.com/) where I post occasionally and of course Posterous (http://ramki.posterous.com/). I have rather good intentions of becoming an active blogger but do not have a definite plan for it. (Similarly I want to get into Writing, Films, and Photography J not sure how & when these will happen)

I appreciate connections, comments, and suggestions feel free to contact with me at bramkie (at) gmail (dot) com

circlelens says...

Circle Contact Lenses are special extra-wide cosmetic contact lenses which make the iris of the eye appear bigger. The difference between normal color contact lenses and circle contact lenses is that normal contact lenses are only tinted in the area that covers the eyes' iris. As for circle lenses, they are tinted in both the areas that cover the eyes' iris, as well as the extra-wide outer ring of the lens. Circle lenses are not necessarily larger than normal color contacts, which are usually 14.0mm, but normal color lenses will not make your eyes appear larger at all.

Why have Circle Lenses become so popular?

Circle lenses have become the new fashion trend in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and is rapidly spreading in North America. Circle lenses are becoming extremely popular because they are effective at changing the eye color, giving the appearance of a larger eye and less costly than normal color contact lenses.

Where To Find Circle Contact Lenses?

Most circle contact lenses have a yearly usage (extended wear) and are more comfortable than normal lenses, as they are soft lenses. The most famous brands of circle lenses are: GEO, EOS and G&G. If you are planning on buying circle lenses, it will be hard for you to find a retail store that sells them. Instead, it is easier to purchase them online. However, be careful when choosing who to buy from, as there have been many circle lens imitations circulating from China in the recent months. It is recommended that you buy from retail webstores, rather than personal sellers. The price should be from $30~$55.
