On Monday 7/12/2009, sometime in the evening, the Indian author Chetan Bhagat blocked few people from his twitter account. Chetan (@chetan_bhagat) was having a debate with a journalist (@jojiphilip) on books and piracy, when he received some tweets which didn't gel with him. The result was him blocking those people from his twitter account.
Chetan Bhagat was ripped apart by twitter users when he lost his cool at the smart alec replies he received. He could have easily shrugged off the remarks but instead retorted angrily. More people joined in on the fun/bullying (depends on how you see it). The link above has details on how everything started out.
Moral of the story: Don't take anything in Twitter seriously. Shrug it off. Have fun.

Gino D'Acampo, the winner of I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!, and his fellow contestant Stuart Manning face criminal charges for animal cruelty after cooking and eating a rat on the ITV programme, it emerged today.
The pair were part of a group in "exile" during part of the series, which meant they had meagre rations of rice and beans.
A lack of meat apparently prompted the contestants to catch, kill and eat a rat.
D'Acampo, a 33-year-old chef, said in the show's video diary, the Bush Telegraph: "I saw one of these rats running around. I got a knife, I got its throat, I picked it up."
The group, including 30-year-old actor Manning, ate the rat.
Chief Inspector David Oshannessy, of the New South Wales RSPCA, said it was not acceptable that an animal had been killed as part of a performance.
"The allegation is that an animal was cruelly treated on the set," he added. "It was a rat that was killed.
"There is a code of conduct in New South Wales that dictates how animals can be used. The killing of a rat for a performance is not acceptable."
The charity sends staff whenever animals are used for filmed or live performances, he said, and had been in contact with the programme's producers before the rat was killed.
When they were told what had happened, they decided to take action.
"Police from Murwillumbah ... issued field court attendance notices to two men aged 30 and 33 for the offence of animal cruelty," a spokesman for New South Wales police said.
"They are due to attend court at Murwillumbah local court on 3 February 2009."
ITV was unavailable for comment.
OK, so the title of the article I am going to link to doesn’t actually have a lot to do with “taking the private jet to Copenhagen” but it sure is catchy…and somewhat true. Instead, the article does a great job of pointing out the greenwashing and greenpocrisy of well-known “green” celebrities. A few fantastic tidbits from this Greenwash of the Week article include:
- John Travolta notoriously encouraged the British public to do its bit to fight global warming — after flying into London on one of his five, yes, five private jets (one of which is a Boeing 707).
- Oprah Winfrey, who preaches eco-virtue from her TV pulpit, travelled in a 13-seat Gulfstream IV private jet for years.
- Perhaps more egregious, because she is a much more in-your-face global-warming campaigner, is Dame Trudie Styler, film financier and wife of Sting. Not only do she and her husband run seven homes and travel between them in private jets and a fleet of cars, but in 2007 an employment tribunal revealed Styler was furious when her pregnant chef refused to travel 100 miles to prepare some soup and salad.
- Tom Cruise — who has campaigned for the LA-based environmental group Earth Communications Office — also has an air fleet and a licence to pilot his five planes.
- U2’s latest world tour … produces the carbon equivalent of the annual emissions of 6,500 British homes — or a rocket trip to Mars and back.
