There's another pie contest in Charlottesville (see pdf file below for rules), this one to benefit Albemarle High School. Coy Barefoot and Brian Wheeler are lined up to Judge. It's unbelievable to me that Brian in particular is ready to eat mass quantities of pie again so soon!

The contest is being run in conjunction with the AHS Drama Department's presentation of Shakespeare's Othello:

A full-length performance of Othello is scheduled for
December 4 and 5 at 8:00 p.m. and
December 6 @ 2:00 p.m.

A "Dessert Hour" fundraiser will take place prior to both Friday and Saturday night shows, starting at 6:30 p.m.  A Pie Contest will be take place on December 4.

The ticket prices:

Advance Sales
Student Rate-$5.00
Adult-$8.00
General Admission @ the door-$10.00
Dessert Hour- $5.00

All tickets for the public performances can be purchased at the Fashion Square and Barracks Roads Hallmarks

or at Albemarle High School. Contact Fay Cunningham by phone: 975-9300, ext. 60041 or by email: fcunningham@k12albemarle.org.

My gocco calendar has been one of my favorite projects this past month. I got to create illustrations inspired by some of my favorite Minnesota and upper Midwest landscapes, and then figure out how to print them using my gocco press. I'm excited about how it all turned out. The photos could be better...I promise it looks better in person.
I'm only posting a few photos up here, but the whole calendar is up on ETSY too:

Download iCal Cleaner

iCal Cleaner

Over time, iCal can become filled with all kinds of bogus data like duplicate events, blank events, duplicate alarms and more. All of this extra baggage adds up and can make iCal sluggish.

iCal Cleaner is a free utility designed to clean up common problems in iCal. Just launch iCal Cleaner, select the calendars you want to clean and the action you want to perform, and click Start. Then sit back and let iCal Cleaner do the rest.

Icalcleaner

Here's what you can do with iCal Cleaner:

  • Delete Duplicate Events — This script will delete all duplicate Events and ToDos in iCal. Events with the same title and start time are considered duplicates. ToDos with the same title, completion date and due date are considered duplicates. The duplicates will be deleted, leaving the original event intact.
  • Delete Blank Events — This script will delete all Events and ToDos in iCal that have no title.
  • Delete All Alarms — This script will delete all Alarms attached to Events and ToDos in iCal. You can choose the type of Alarms to remove -- Message, Message with Sound, Email, Open File, or All Alarm types.
  • Delete Duplicate Alarms — This script will delete duplicate alarms attached to Events and ToDos in iCal. It searches only for duplicate Message and Message with Sound Alarms. If an event has more than one of these alarms, the duplicates will be deleted, leaving only one alarm intact. Note: It does not take the alarm interval into consideration. So, if there are two message alarms (one set for 15 minutes before, and one set for 30 minutes before), one of the alarms will be deleted.
  • Delete All Attendees — This script will delete all Attendees from Events in iCal.

WARNING: iCal Cleaner will modify data in iCal. Please backup iCal before running iCal Cleaner.

Frequently when I am driving the 25 minute commute to or from work I think of things I want to do. In the past I would try and grab a piece of paper and make a note to remind myself. I knew this was not the safest method but I did not want to forget the idea. Often I was unable to make a note and I just hoped I remembered the idea when I got to my destination. Shortly after getting my iPhone over a year and a half ago I found out about a service called Dial2Do. The service allows me to use my voice to send myself email reminders. It converts my voice into text and then sends an email. Along with the text version of the email you can listen to the original voice message. The service does so much more, but I use it to primarily send myself email reminders. I have used it to send emails to other people in my contact list. The service is free and works very well. I would say I have had about 90-95% accuracy with the conversion of my voice to text. Dial2Do works with any type of cell phone.

You can use Dial2Do to update Twitter, Facebook, Wordpress, Xpenser, Evernote, Toodledo, and even your calendar. You can even listen to the weather or your emails. Follow the link above to check it out.

Another brilliant photography project site where you can post a picture every day and have it turned into a calendar for the next year – lovely gift idea or just something to do for yourself. I tried to take one photo a day for a week and failed miserably around day four, and am currently failing to get to photography class once a week, so I don’t think this is for me, but love the idea never the less. Definitely worth a peep.
