Een goed omslag is niet alleen een van de bepalende factoren voor verkoopsucces, maar kan ook bijdragen aan het leesplezier. En andersom: een slecht omslag kan het leesplezier totaal vergallen. Voor de Kostwinner zijn inmiddels meer dan vijftien (!) verschillende omslagen gemaakt. Nu eens was de redacteur niet helemaal tevreden, vaak had ik iets te zeuren, en ook de marketingafdeling had sterke opvattingen over wat wel of niet zou 'scoren'. En dan waren er nog de echte experts, de boekhandelaren, die unaniem waren in hun afkeer van bepaalde ontwerpen, maar eigenlijk ook niet konden aangeven hoe het dan wel moest. Uiteindelijk is het de vormgever dan toch gelukt om iets te maken waar iedereen blij van werd. Later meer hierover....
