Looks like this embed is worthless. However, South Park Studios is not. New episode: 'Dead Celebrities'.  Enjoy.

Not long ago, I posted about my successful deployment of Billy Mays' Mighty Mendit in my half-assed attempt to temporarily fix my car's canvas top. That went well, the stuff worked decently and the endeavor was marginally successful overall, but that's not the issue here today. This is more important. This is an emergency.

This is different...

This time it's something far more special to me than a car. Something far more important than protection from the weather; something more important than security.

This time, it's my jeans. Gaze upon the damage, chaos and havoc I have wreaked upon my jeans, and join me in hope and prayer, to whatever deity pleases you, that this succeeds. They're my favorite jeans. Help me Billy Mays, you're my only hope.

As I have the unfortunate habit of overly specializing my items of importance... My favorite jeans were, in fact, so favorite, that they were my only pair of jeans. I don't feel like walking around in slacks all the time... So cross your fingers for me?

UPDATE:

It's been a couple of hours, and the jeans are now mighty mended - in Billy's honor.

Win.

UPDATE (2)

So... They lasted a couple of hours, but started to open up again. Still far better than they were without the Mighty Mendit, but not a complete fix. :(

That’s right. Billy Mays, the man, the legend himself, and his wonderfully flammable monstrosity of adhesives - Mighty Mendit - have made my weekend more full of win than it would have been without.

Some background information…

So after I got back from Seattle on Friday, it was straight to the Amtrak station with me so that I could make my way to the valley to pick up my sister’s old VW Cabrio. The lucky little shit just got herself a new Rabbit, which I’ll try not to hate her too much for, considering I got a gem hidden in some rough. The Cabrio’s in great condition, to be honest she probably never should have bought a new car, it’s in that kind of shape. But that’s all well and good since I snagged it for free.

So here’s where the need for a fabric adhesive comes into play

The Cabrio Highline I came across for free is, of course, a convertible. Canvas top and all, and being over a decade old, there was the expected seam that wasn’t doing so well. By that I mean it there was a split seam, and it had to be at a stress-point just to make things interesting.

So what pops into my head? Immediately, my thoughts were of Billy’s voice, loudly harassing my brain, screaming MIGHTY MENDIT at the top of his bearded lungs. So I scored some over at Walgreens in their ridiculously awesome As Seen On TV section. It was right next to that funky bra thing and the shamPOW.

The stuff costs like 10 bucks and - get this - just like in the commercials, it comes with a baggy full of BEDAZZLER style sequins. You can bet I’ll be using those on something that belongs to somebody else while they’re not looking. You can count on it.

How’d it go?

It went perfectly. The stuff worked great, I let it set for like an hour, then I put the top down to give it a couple more hours just to be on the safe side, and made my trip back to the bay. When I got back, I put the top back up and secured it to full tension, and the seam held.

Thank you, Billy Mays.

This car’s going to Seattle, after all.

I love these infomercial overdubs. I think this one is the best one I've seen. I mean, who really thinks this putty shit is going to tow a tractor trailer?
