Speaking of the country as a whole, Biden quoted poet William Butler Yeats: “All’s changed. Changed utterly, and a terrible beauty has been born.” He said lawmakers now have to grasp that opportunity for change.

I think a more appropriate citation would be:

"Hurrah for revolution and more cannon-shot!
A beggar upon horseback lashes a beggar on foot.
Hurrah for revolution and cannon come again!
The beggars have changed places, but the lash goes on. "

Or perhaps, recalling a better statesman than Biden....

"Parnell came down the road, and said to a cheering man,
"'Ireland shall get her freedom, and you shall still break stone.'"

On the economy i give him a C+ My job is still intact though the money has lessened. On foreign policy He hasn't demonstrated a clear grade, so leave this one for further review. On health care Obama has sounded his trumpet but I expect very little. On leadership of the nation, I'm not very impressed. My positive words are trampled by mistakes and mishaps Obama has made but I keep hoping..

"Be cool, Joe"

Although Supernews runs on Algore's Current franchise and usually only bashes conservatives, it would seem that this year the writers have developed some intellectual honesty and become more equality-minded in their humor.

Poor Joe Biden has spent his entire term as vice president being privately rebuked and publicly corrected by his boss. Every time Biden gives an interview, Obama comes out a couple days later and says, “I stand behind everything Joe said, except just to clarify, he meant the opposite,” and Biden has to sit in the Naughty Circle for ten minutes.

HAAAAAAAA I LOVE IT.

Clarification

Speaking to CNN while on a visit to Russia, President Obama said the US would to try to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue "in a peaceful way through diplomatic channels."

Vice-President Joe Biden had said in an interview with ABC TV on Sunday that "Israel can determine for itself... what's in their interest and what they decide to do relative to Iran and anyone else".

Asked whether the comment meant that Washington had given Israel the go-ahead for an attack, Mr Obama said: "Absolutely not."

Still, what Biden says is technically dead on: Israel will continue do as it pleases, with U.S. officials politically powerless to rescind military and diplomatic support.

On a minor note: who let Joe Biden out of the time-out corner?

Lebanon's voters gave the White House the victory it wanted -- with a lot of help from Hezbollah.

President Barack Obama's speech in Cairo last Thursday may already have borne fruit. His call for political moderates in the Muslim world to fight extremism may have helped tip the weekend's parliamentary elections in Lebanon to the anti-Syrian March 14 Alliance. Obama did not explicitly call for the defeat of Hezbollah in the elections, but the Lebanese already knew where the administration's sympathies lay. His speech came three weeks after a Beirut visit by Vice President Joe Biden in which Biden warned at a news conference, "We will evaluate the shape of our assistance programs based on the composition of the new government and the policies it advocates."

In addition to restoring the credibility of the Department of Justice, much work needs to be done to restore the integrity of our intelligence agencies. The president-elect has been under pressure, and rightly so, to appoint a director of the CIA who is not tainted by the CIA's complicity in unlawful interrogation techniques and other questionable practices during the Bush administration. He surprised many people by choosing Leon Panetta, who has virtually no background in the area.

This appointment immediately came under fire from Senator Feinstein. Perhaps she was just miffed that she was not consulted beforehand, and Joe Biden apparently took care to patch things over in that regard as best he could. But is there any validity to her contention that the director of the CIA should presumptively be someone with background and experience in the agency? Why does she think that is so important? Many other agency heads are brought in from outside the agency that they are called upon to lead. With respect to the CIA, this seems an especially good time to bring in someone from the outside to re-think the agency's role. Could it be that Senator Feinstein and other members of the intelligence sub-committee simply think that they would find it easier to get along with someone who is comfortable with the old ways of doing things, with which they are themselves complicit?
