I've tested the beta-version of the next version of Netvibes and I like it. It's fast and the news reader is, to me, a good alternative to Google Reader. Google Reader is another beast all together, of course, but Netvibes is looking better and better.
Under the hood they are using Tokyo Tyrant: speed and disk space are the reasons. Regardless its working pretty good and I've yet to find any bugs at all. IE6 doesn't look like it is compatible but who uses that old fart anyway?
Scratch the previous post about me completely switching to OpenOffice - Microsoft released the technical preview of Office 2010 to the public last night and that obviously changes a lot of things.
Bevor ihr fragt - nein, eigentlich benötige ich kein Office 2010. Zumindest nicht privat und schon gar nicht auf dem Mac in einer virtuellen Maschine. Aber da ich von Natur aus neugierig bin, scheue ich keinen Download von knapp 700MB, auch nicht das Vergrößern der VM mit vorherigem Löschen aller Snapshots.
Wie lange kann Outlook eigentlich schon automatisch die Servereinstellungen herausfinden? Nette Sache.

Das SmartReader des neuen NetVibes Wasabi gefällt mir ausgesprochen gut. Neben einem sehr übersichtlichen ListView haben die Entwickler noch eine Mosaic-Ansicht spendiert. Den bislang bekannten Widgets-Mode gibt es ebenfalls noch. Im Moment ist das noch eine closed Beta, die aber schon gut funktioniert (ich persönlich hab noch keine Probleme festgestellt). Am 9. Dezember wird das neue NetVibes auf der LeWeb in Paris gelaunched
Die Office 2010 und SharePoint Server 2010 Beta (sowie Project 2010, Project Server 2010, Vision 2010, Sharepoint Foundation 2010 und Sharepoint Designer 2010 Beta ) sind jetzt für Abonnementen auf TechNet und MSDN verfügbar - auch in Deutsch.
Steffen Krause hat auf dem zweitausendzehn Blog soeben bekannt gegeben, dass der neue SharePoint ab sofort zum Download zur Verfügung steht.
