Made for the Japanese market, the Fanny Pack follows the original design from 1981, when Wild Things was started. The bag can be worn either round the waist, or more commonly across the back due to its comfortable thick strap. Size 42x15x8 cm. GBP £46.81 from Superdenim.

These beautiful books you can't read - they're handbags and minaudières - are by Olympia Le-Tan and currently available from Colette in Paris. Found via We Love You So.

You can keep your Hermès Birkins and suchlike - Susannah Hunter makes my favourite bags in the world, ever, bar nothing and nobody and no one. I first came across them in The Cross five or six years ago - there was a woman carrying one and I practically attacked her to ask her where it was from; not to sound completely mental or anything, but my breathing quickened so that I was pretty much PANTING WITH DESIRE. Over a bag. Yes, I know. But the bags are unbelievably sumptuous - the leather is like butter, the colours are jewel-like, the insides are thick velvet, the craftsmanship is impeccable and the appliquéd flowers are amazingly beautiful; plus there isn't an iota of bling or logo grossness.

The bags - they come in lots of different shapes and sizes but are all squishy - are put together with a painterly eye, especially when it comes to colour, which isn't very surprising as Susannah comes from a family of artists. The bummer is, they're not cheap. At all. Like, really not *sad face*. But *perks up* it's nearly Christmas. And they last forever and never date - I still get stopped and interrogated about my very first purchase from her. And they are made by hand, in the atelier behind the shop in Rugby Street, Bloomsbury, by a charming bunch of women who are properly paid and looked after. Look: it's the anti-sweatshop:

As well as the existing shop at 7 Rugby Street, WC1, a second shop is opening next month at 19 Connaught Street, W2; it'll stock leather-bound books and things like travel-card holders as well as the lovely bags (there's also a bespoke furniture range). The online shop is here. If you can't afford a bag, nip into the shop and buy a keyring: it may be small but it'll be so beautiful that it'll make you happy every time you see it.

Mid-sized bags rule. Let moi illustrate;

*not too heavy to lug around
*only lets you carry the necessities plus an extra item or two - a zen approach some might say
*feels more up to date than a Bayswater sized bag

I really fell in love with mid-sized bags after buying a beautiful brown leather bag from Karen Millen a year ago. So perfect, so neat, so much fun!
If I were to buy another mid-sized bag soon, which I would like to but my bank balance says no, I'd get the graphic colour block shopper also from Karen Millen.
A US woman might use the term fierce the describe the colours, still, it sticks out. It's a killer bag and I love it.

Cheaper mid-sized alternatives (the KM one goes for £165) can be found at Warehouse stocks a particularly attractive leather drawstring pouch for £45.

The configurable hard graft  3FOLD multi-use bag is three bags rolled into one - a slim laptop bag, a sizable portfolio case and a spacious overnighter.

In laptop mode, the bag has two main compartments (44 x 26 cm each) and fits up to two 13" or 15" laptops. The portfolio bag (61 x 44 cm) fits anything up to A2 format, while the 50 x 26 x 17 cm overnighter also has a working inside pocket that fits 13" or 15" laptops.

There are two 14.5 x 18 cm external zipper pockets. Inside there is a 40 x 26 cm canvas pocket paired with a smaller 11 x 14 cm leather pocket. The inner lining is black canvas and protection for laptops is provided by a flexible shock absorbent lightweight inner foam layer.

The 3FOLD is handmade from a bespoke vegetable tanned Italian leather which is dyed through and hand finished in grey with a hint of teal. This is juxtaposed with a chestnut brown leather shoulder strap which can be used in all three configurations. The leathers are coloured with natural dyes which enhance the look over time and use. Each limited edition 3FOLD is individually numbered and carefully assembled by a family of leather artisans in the rolling hills of Tuscany, Italy.

EUR 409 from hard graft.
