"The images on this page are created randomly using the library. The script is deceptively simple. Essentially, the code grabs some images and composites them on a canvas. It then rotates and scales the images, applies the occasional Twirl or Kaleidoscope filter, and adds a radial gradient mask so the layers overlap nicely at the edges."

We've certainly seen plenty of hackintoshes in our time, but Will Urbina's OS Xbox Pro is also one of the cleanest casemods we've ever seen. Built so that Will can run Final Cut Pro for his job as a video editor, the machine is based on an EFI-X hackintosh dongle, and inside it sports an 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550s paired with an NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT card, 8GB of RAM, an 16GB SSD, and four traditional hard drives: one each to boot Windows 7 and OS X, and two 500GB 7,200rpm drives in a RAID0 array for video editing. Will says his total parts cost was under $1,500 for a system that matches a $4,500 Mac Pro, but that obviously doesn't include the value of his time.

This Monday, we began a guest curation series at our Free Music Archive portal. Rather than attempt to distill the vast landscape of CC-licensed music on our own, we thought it better to reach out to those on the ground working to support and expose these type of artists in their given communities. What better way to start then with a selection of tracks from ccMixter admin/developer/mentor Victor Stone:

For all the activism in the Open Music movement, nothing pushes the ball forward like brilliant, evocative music. While there is plenty of underground music of all sub-genres at ccMixter, there is also a growing collection of mainstream, above-ground producers who understand the value of sharing as a means of boosting their own creativity along with their exposure.

I'm so glad to be a supporter of WFMU. Keep it up, WFMU!!

Ninja Assassin introduces the ancient Japanese martial art of ninjitsu into modern-day America with a violent new twist, and the stars and filmmakers talked with us about what sets the new movie apart from previous martial-arts epics.

For one thing, it comes from the Matrix movies' Wachowski brothers, who produced it with Joel Silver. For another, it was co-written by Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski (with Matthew Sand). And it introduces a form of martial arts that has rarely been seen in American movies, at least not in a serious and scary way.

Ninja film from creators of \<i\>Matrix\<\/i\> and \<i\>Babylon 5\<\/i\>

Really, people, I don't have to sell this movie to you. You already want to see it. It's like an absolutely perfect formula for dragging people like you and me into the movies. The Wachowski brothers in the first place, and Babylon 5's J. Michael Straczynski getting together to punch people in the face and make them fall down. Probably while screaming.

Does it get any better than this?

I'm thinking I absolutely have to see this movie ASAP. Besides, ninjas! Assassins! Killing people in the face! If that's not a perfect movie, I don't want to live in a perfect world.

Who doesn't love an interactive book? A crazy person who wouldn't like the Internet either. I don't know any of those.
