This video was shot at Craggy Gardens on the Blue Ridge Pkwy less then 10 miles from my house. There's probably a hundred reasons at this point why I love living in Asheville, NC ... this video is reason number 1! The experience of witnessing a dancing ocean of clouds from above is truly awesome beauty.

Yesterday I tore myself away from #VREBC to meet my friend, Margie Casey, in Asheville for an early Japanese dinner at Kubo's Hibachi and Sushi Bar. Great sashimi, service, and company!

Subject: 6 pictures for you

Hi Chris,

Here are the six pictures I took at the Asheville area WWD gathering at the home of Marian and Bob Sigmon last Saturday afternoon. None of the images came out very well, but I send them to you to use, or not use, as you think best.
1  Dick Lyons, Lia Furcha, James Hackney
2  Marian Rice Sigmon
3  Eleanor Fiol, Ann Pickett, Peggy Jenks
4  Karen Fiol McKerihan and son
5  Peter Jenks, Lia Furcha, Karen Fiol McKerihan's husband, Louisa Rice Goebel, James Hackney
6  Dick and Janice Lyons

I'll just add to Marian's comments and say that we all had a very good time!

Finally, I'll say that you did a wonderful job with the "Day" video. It was super and much enjoyed.

Doug

I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You
(download)

Recorded: March 31, 2002 in my old apartment @ 85 West Walnut St., Asheville, NC

I came across this while cleaning up my library after the iTunes 9 upgrade this morning and felt like sharing. This was recorded using a yard sale, Sony passive electret condenser microphone direct to hard disk via Sound Forge using my L'Arrivee Parlor Guitar. The "quality" of my voice is likely due to a long night of cigarettes, PBR, & yelling in the Vincent's Ear courtyard in Asheville, NC the night before.

Credits:
"I Hope That I Don't Fall in Love With You" was written and originally recorded by Tom Waits for the 1973 album Closing Time.

Seriously, when I checked in the woman at the front desk said to me..."I have a great room for you on the fourth floor with a downtown view". She failed to mention the special industrial design sculpture in front of the view.

I look like such a weakling with this 11 mi/h run, but this is a particularly hilly section of the neighborhood (at least it feels that way after an earlier run and 6 mi bike)!

OK, I'm just a weakling.

But I'm getting there.

Oh, and we live in the mountains, so I'm sure the altitude makes it more difficult!

Right? Right?

Sigh.

Afternoon bike ride to Azalea Park and back up (a very busy) Tunnel Road into Beverly Hills.

Busted my ass on steep corner of E. Hawthorne Drive going downhill (near 1 mile mark).
