Every once in awhile you stumble upon something that reminds you:

you don't know shit about shit.

This is one of them. This is what it is to be at war. Forget about politics for just a minute and listen to this piece. You will hear these men, you will feel them, you will understand for 7minutes and 49 seconds what it is to fight every day of your life and lose the man beside you.

You will understand what it must be for the parents of Pfc. Donald Vincent's to receive a journal from a war zone -- brand new, cracked open, with one paragraph entered before his first patrol, before he was killed shot and killed.

Private Vincent's life in the Marine Corps.: one paragraph and hundreds of blank pages.

Listen to this, think of our soldiers and Marines and thank them in your own way.

Driving truck in the military is a thankless job.
When the townsfolk see us coming they gather in a mob.
Some yell at us and some cheer.
Some look at us with awe and some with fear.
They used to use snipers and landmines to take you out.
Now they use IED'S and EFP's that will kill you with no doubt.
We bring the infantry ammo, bandages and food to eat.
Without us they would surely know defeat.
They look down on us because we drive while they kick, fight and maul.
But for them to do what they do they depend on us, those who drive the line haul.

We're out before it's time to leave.
We check our trucks, pray and take a moment to breathe.
We drive all day and through the night.
This legs' end is nowhere in sight.
Equipment breaks and driver's die.
All we can do is fix what we can and wonder why.
Lord we don't know why you needed his life.
Just please provide comfort for his mom, dad and loving wife.
The day is sunny and bright.
But it's when the night falls that you realize the boogeyman hunts at night.

Here I sit, rifle in hand
Killing the natives of a far off land.
The reason I am here?
A madman who spreads fear.
Bodies piled high as far as the eye can see,
Those caught as they tried to flee.
Enemy in sight
I pray my aim is true tonight.
The camp begins to stir
Time flies by as if a blur.
A hard thud to my chest,
I look down and see the hole in my vest.
My buddy looks at me with a tear,
I look at him and say "Do not fear"
Fight with all your might
For I will be waiting for you in VALHALLA tonight!

I stand at the edge of the field on the eve of battle.

Fear running through my veins and muscles so hard my bones begin to rattle.

I have the confidence in knowing that when the horns of battle let loose their roar.

It will be to unleash ME.........THE DOG OF WAR

Sireesh says...

There was this General-in-training, and his superiors were
asking him questions
"What happened on June 6, 1944?"
"We stormed the beach at Normandy, which later became known as
D-Day, sir!"
"What was the turning point of world war 2?"
"Battle of the bulge, sir!"
"What's is the importance of May 12" The Man thought and thought
"I don't know, sir!"
The superior then said "Well, I'll tell your wife that you
forgot her birthday"

Having just moved into his new office, a pompous, new colonel
was sitting at his desk when an airman knocked on the door.
Conscious of his new position, the colonel quickly picked up the
phone,
told the airman to enter, then said into the phone,
"Yes, General, I'll be seeing him this afternoon and I'll pass
along your message.
In the meantime, thank you for your good wishes, sir."
Feeling as though he had sufficiently impressed the young
enlisted man,
he asked, "What do you want?"
"Nothing important, sir," the airman replied, "I'm just here to
hook up your telephone."

Time
On some air bases the Air Force is on one side of the field
and civilian aircraft use the other side of the field, with the
control tower in the middle.
One day the tower received a call from an aircraft asking, "What
time is it?"
The tower responded, "Who is calling?"
The aircraft replied, "What difference does it make?"
The tower replied "It makes a lot of difference.
If it is an American Airlines flight, it is 3 o'clock.
If it is an Air Force plane, it is 1500 hours.
If it is a Navy aircraft, it is 6 bells.
If it is an Army aircraft, the big hand is on the 12 and the
little hand
is on the 3.
If it is a Marine Corps aircraft, it's Thursday afternoon and
120 minutes to "Happy Hour."

Change
Officer: "Soldier, do you have change for a dollar?"
Soldier: "Sure, buddy."
Officer: "That's no way to address an officer!
Now let's try it again!"
Officer: "Soldier. Do you have change for a dollar?"
Soldier: "No, SIR!"
