We had the children's Christmas party at work today.  Isabelle was so wired to see Santa.  She was singing, dancing and jumping around, until it was her turn...then she buried herself against my leg and started bawling :(

She was pretty happy about Santa Claus again though after she got her candy cane.  Then she wanted to go see him again.  "Are you sure?  Or do you just want more candy?"..."uhm, more candy." (LOL).

We dropped by Nicole's for dinner after the party (mmm...thanks for dinner Nicole).  The kids always have a blast playing together, and the adults discussed the risks of sending personal text messages (thanks for the example Wayne).

A long story short, I decided to buy Amy's ring from a company in the United States.  To avoid the hassle of brokerage and additional fees, we drove down to Buffalo to pick up the ring.

I took a "before" (sans ring) photo to kick off our trip, and then of course pulled into the first Tim's we came across.

There's a place on Highway #6 that has a bunch of dinosaurs and characters out front, so we thought we'd take a quick photo break.

The line up to use the woman's bathroom was so long at one of the rest stops, that there were women walking in and using the men's bathroom.

Amy had a purse to exchange at the Coach outlet store in Niagara Falls, and as our luck would have it, they had a big sale Saturday.  So we waited forty-five minutes in line, just to get into the store...and once we were in, of course we had to look around.

I thought I'd drop into the Levi's jeans outlet and grab a couple pairs of jeans.  They had sale signs all over the place.  One of the sales reps was helping me find my size when I asked, "so this whole wall is on sale?" ... "yes, but not for your size".  WTF! OK, so I could lose a few pounds, but I'm not Fat Albert sized (depending on the style, I wear 38" or 40").

Amy tore into the package as soon as we picked it up from Fedex.  Inside the first box, was another box.  Inside that box, was a padded envelope.  Inside the envelope, was another box.  Inside that box, was a wooden box...and finally, inside the wooden box was her ring.

Since we were already half way there, we figured we'd drive down to Ohio and buy a TV (I know it's crazy, but Sony was selling a TV for $1,000 with a free PS3 that sells for $2,000 in Canada).  We figured we'd sell the PS3 and end up with a $2,000 TV for $700.  So, they sold out, but they are going to ship it to us instead.

Even though we didn't get the TV, we were happy to find a great restaurant.  The Cheesecake Factory is now on our list of restaurants to keep an eye out for.  All the food was great...I mean, how can any place go wrong with a page and a half of different cheesecake options?

Isabelle has been going pee-pee on the potty pretty regularly for a little over a week now (every 15 minutes it seems, lol), but today was the first day she went poop in the potty.  I never thought I'd be proud of a poop, but I guess that's what being a parent does to you.

Another note on parenting:
No matter how much your two year old begs for it, never squirt water into their mouth with your sports water bottle...unless you want to get it back, plus everything they had for dinner all over your shirt.  "...it's ok Daddy...just don't make me throw up again."

We went to Swiss Chalet for dinner tonight.  As we were sitting there, Isabelle starts looking around as she says, "I spy with my little eye, something that is...chicken" (LOL).

We tried out Sushi Nara tonight (374 Erb Street West, Waterloo), and although it's not Samura, it's worth another visit.  The prices weren't too bad and the food was good.  The spicy tuna roll was probably my favourite tonight.  It was funny, the waitress came by to see if we had decided what to get, and Isabelle spoke right up and said, "uhm, I'll have a burger please" (LMAO).

We stopped by Walmart after dinner and Isabelle went for a ride with Mickey Mouse.

Earlier in the week we raked some of the leaves up (a lot more to go).

Just overheard, "we need more screwy things" and "ok, now just four more of the locky thingies".

I'm sure I'll have more pictures/comments later...but I might not have the guts to post them ;)

We were eating breakfast this morning when Isabelle started looking at me, reached up to touch my goatee and said...

Isabelle: Daddy, what is this?
Daddy: That's my goatee.
Isabelle: One day I'll have a goatee (drawing it on her face).
Daddy: No you won't Isabelle.  Only boys have goatees.
Isabelle: OK. One day when I'm a boy.

We were in the car a couple months ago when Isabelle decided to start repeating everything Alexander said...

Alexander: Where are we going?
Isabelle: Where are we going?
Amy: To the grocery store.
Alexander: Are we going to be there long?
Isabelle: Are we going to be there long?
Alexander: Isabelle, don't be a copycat.
Isabelle: I not a copycat.  I'm an Isabelle!
